Celebrating "Undas" in The Philippines

Derived from the Mexican tradition Dia De Los Muertos, the Pinoy version called Undas is every bit as colorful as its predecessor. On November 1st of every year droves of people make their pilgrimage to cemeteries to pay tribute and pray for the souls of their dearly departed. It might sound a bit dreary but the way it's celebrated may vary perhaps depending on how recent the loss was.
Generally speaking though, I'd say the mood is quite festive with most families in complete attendance, bringing food and refreshments for everyone. This is probably the reason why it's my favorite Philippine holiday since you get to eat the lights out, picnic style without having to worry about buying presents. :)
